Home sales rallied somewhat in the Sacramento region in August, coming on the heels of a dismal July.
Figures released today by La Jolla researcher MDA DataQuick showed that Sacramento-area buyers claimed 3,223 new and existing houses in August, up from 2,958 in July but down from 3,375 in August 2009.
Analysts blamed the quietest July since 2007 on the expiration of government tax credits that had prodded thousands of buyers to act. Analysts said at the time that the remainder of the year was uncertain and might offer a mixed bag of results.
That was true of the figures released today.
