How much worse can gas prices get?
Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, on Monday offered the ominous answer.
"We could be looking at $4 a gallon in less than a month. It's $3.90 now for all California," he said. " … I really don't see any letup in prices until at least autumn.
"Not only do you have what's going on in the Middle East, but the summer driving season isn't even here yet, and (pricier) summer gasoline hasn't kicked in. The entire state of California is solid red. Everything points to continued price increases."
In the Sacramento area, the average retail price of gas soared another 15 cents a gallon to $3.84 over the past week, according to the weekly report issued Monday by SactoGasPrices.com, a GasBuddy.com website.
