The pace of rising gasoline prices cooled down last week, and analysts said the disaster in Japan has created a new set of scenarios.
The average retail price of gas in Sacramento rose another 5 cents a gallon to $3.90 over the past week, according to Monday's weekly report issued by SactoGasPrices.com, a GasBuddy.com website.
That was a comparative break from spikes of 17.2 cents and 15 cents a gallon the previous two weeks.
Local at-the-pump prices are 87.7 cents per gallon higher than one year ago and up 49.9 cents from last month.
Nationally, the average price increased 3.8 cents a gallon last week to $3.53, 40.5 cents higher than last month and up 74.5 cents from a year ago.
